Frugal Me Fridays- Popcorn for Snack Time

Who says snacks have to be out when you have a food budget? You can just snack frugally!

Everyone loves popcorn!
But, those microwave 3 packs can get pricey.

To save, you can buy them in bulk at Costco or Sam's Club.
A better choice is regular popcorn.

You can get a pound of it for $1 or maybe a little more.
It makes LOTS!

You can make it on the stove, invest in an air popper, a microwave popper, or even put some popcorn and a little oil in a paper bag and do microwave popcorn your way.

It really takes mo more time popping regular corn than it does the microwave variety.

Make your own caramel corn for a treat!

Popcorn is low calorie and filling.
Popping your own not only saves you money, it is healthier.
None of those chemicals that come in the bags of microwave popcorn.

And you get to season it just the way you want!

  1. Unfortunately, not everyone loves popcorn, my husband hates it and complains bitterly about the smell every time I make myself some. Pity 'cos I really enjoy it. You can make popcorn by putting some in the bottom of a glass bowl and topping it with a dinner plate. Pop it in the microwave for a few minutes.

    1. Jo, that is a good idea. My mom has a microwave popper that pretty much looks like that. I've know people that couldn't eat it because of corn allergies, but never met anyone that didn't like it. Eat it when he is gone.

  2. thanks ruth---i love popcorn--there is this one theater in my city that has the low price movies---they still make their own popcorn--it is the very best---i like to send frank in there just for the popcorn :)

    1. Hey, Lynn. Do they just let you buy popcorn? That is a good deal.
